FAQs

1. Buying an item

Search the catalogue of donated items and find something you want to buy.
Any questions before buying? Contact the donator to ask any questions about the item via our Messenger button.
To pay for your chosen item, press “Buy Now” on the item’s listing, this will take you through to our checkout page which accepts all the usual card payments as well as Apple and GooglePay (everything except cash ).

2. Once an item is bought

Make contact with the donator to arrange a pickup location and time via our messaging service. We recommend the onus is on the buyer to collect given the donator has generously provided the item.
As this is a community-focused movement, why not meet at the club house, training pitch, or school gates but we’ll leave that for you to arrange.
If the item is damaged, or is significantly different from the description, try to find agreement with the donator. If you need us to step in, contact us and we’ll then look into the case.

3. Which club do I fundraise for?

This will be the organisation you will have linked to when you first register and will show up on the first circle (far left) at the top of app.
This shows where the proceeds from your kind donations, once sold, will help fund.
If you have multiple clubs to support, you can change where your money goes to help fundraise – click on your club main icon and then pick the organisation list, once selected, you now help fundraise for that club.
You will need to log back in to activate your choice.

4. Join other marketplaces!

If you want to shop other marketplaces, click on the + and choose the marketplaces you want to add.
If you can’t see your club or school on the list please drop them a line about us or email the Grassboots team (hello@grassboots.club) to help join them up!
Sale proceeds will go to the club/school that the donated item have been listed against.

5. Donating an item

Take pictures of the items to donate.
Click on the “Donate” button
Upload a photo(s) to show off the item at its best and give a view on condition
Add a “Title” e.g. Nike blue football boots
Set a price to sell (see below for more info)
Follow the listing prompts on sport, category, size and then add a bit more information on condition
Press “Donate” – your listing is now live.

6. How to set the donation price?

As this is a donation platform to support your much-loved sports club, we believe it is best to sell items at a great price.
Whilst we appreciate larger or newer items may attract a higher donation value, we want everyone to benefit from your kind donation and ensure it sells quickly to benefit the buyer, the club or school, so set at an affordable price to keep recycling within the community.
When donating we recommended adding information of the items condition - New / Good / OK / Used / Worn.

7. Donating clean items

In general, all items that you put on for donation should be clean and in a condition that you would be happy to receive them. We recommend washing them in a way suitable to the item’s material.
Any spots, defects, or similar flaws that don’t wash off must be included in the listing’s description and photos. Please be aware that if they’re not noted this is likely to cause issue and may only result in reduced sale proceeds going to your club.
Make sure any sports equipment is safe to use and fit for purpose.

8. What you cannot donate?

Items that do not comply with applicable laws.
Counterfeits and items that infringe on copyright or intellectual property (IP) rights.
Food, drinks, and other perishables.
Detergents and cleaning chemicals.
Medications, professional medical supplies, prescription products, vitamins, and food supplements.
Items that promote or display violence, discrimination, hatred, crime, terrorism, or a terrorist organisation.
Items that do not comply with hygiene standards or those that pose a risk to one’s health (e.g. used underwear bottoms.)
Recalled products.

9. What you can donate?

Basically, anything sport related that is in useable condition – children’s, women’s and men’s sports related clothing, footwear and equipment or accessories.

10. Blocking and Reporting

If you receive spam, harassment, inappropriate content, requests for your private data, pictures of you wearing an item (with or without your face visible) or any other discrimination mentioned in our community standards, you should block and report the member.

Select Block
The blocked member will no longer be able to send you messages or buy your items. Also, you’ll no longer be able to see the member’s items and forum comments
Please report inappropriate behaviour -click on the same 3-dot-symbol in the upper right corner and the post will be investigate.
